Swing #2 Maria Santamaria

Violinist and composer Bardomiano Flores Frias, from Tlapehuala, Guerrero, composed this swing piece. They call the style “Swing de Tierra Caliente,” and it does have a four-to-the-bar, Freddie Green-style swing rhythm, but the eighth notes are played straight, Latin style, instead of swung. We hear violinist Juan Reynoso, his son Neyo and Cástulo Benitez playing at the 1999 Festival of American Fiddle Tunes.
